
Ryley Sausage was started in 1970 by John Thomasen and Erik Brix as a small sausage outlet located in Vegreville, AB. Operating under the name of Vegreville Sausage processing ready-to-eat European style sausages and loaves. The business was so successful and after only 3 years in business the company required more space. In 1973, a larger location was purchased on main street in Ryley, AB and at that time the company name was changed to Ryley Sausage.
John and Erik, originally from Denmark, brought many years of sausage making experience with them into the business. Joining their experience, they worked together until 1991 at which time they decided to pass the business on to future generations who have kept the recipes, traditions, and values that Ryley Sausage was built on.


Continued success allowed us to expand again in 1987 and in 2004 we saw our 4th expansion.
In 1991, the business names was changed to “Ryley Sausage (1991) Ltd.” and has operated as Ryley Sausage (1991) Ltd. since that time.
Ryley Sausage is a family-run business and an integral component of the community of Ryley since it’s inception. Much of the success of out business has, in turn, come from the dedication of the family and of our employees. Ryley Sausage proudly utilizes only high-grade cuts of beef and pork without adding fillers or artificially augmenting the meat products.
